We thought that we were already healthy eaters for sugar, artificial et., but never looked at the salt. Check the labels on baking powder and baking soda. You cannot believe how much salt they pack !I mean alot! 1/8 of a tsp of baking soda has 150 mg. multiply that by 8 to get 1 tsp. = 1200 mg in a tsp. ( of course its divided up in an entire recipe) but still something to watch when baking. Baking Powder is about the same or even more.
We buy 21 Seasoning Salute at Trader Joe's which is a great saltless seasoning ( we like it better than Dash) and Trader Joe's also has a no sodium ww bread.
Good luck with your salt watching.
LOVE your blog..Judee @ Gluten Free A-Zhttp://www.glutenfreewithjudee.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2936274878233831004.post-59647943717674402832011-06-13T23:16:11.799-04:002011-06-13T23:16:11.799-04:00MARY MARY MARY!!! I'm a bad blog friend - plea...MARY MARY MARY!!! I'm a bad blog friend - please forgive my absence on the comment front. I'm here - I promise! I find these days I'm printing out more and more posts and reading them while at the park or while sitting on the lawn as the kids ride their scooters to and from. Only bad thing . . . can't comment on the papers! (Reason #533 why I MUST get a laptop!!) I digress . . . I'm so sorry for the diagnosis, but look at how amazing you are - taking that bull (or pressure) by the horns and shaking it out of your system. You are my constant inspiration, my sweet friend! I'm thinking of you!

(Please know that I read each post! And I'm going to work on getting that laptop asap, so that I can sit on my lawn and comment! Tis the season when sitting at the computer is just way too "indoors"!!) Hugs to you!!!Leannehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17800466894354194636noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2936274878233831004.post-21912222507943117772011-06-13T15:33:54.381-04:002011-06-13T15:33:54.381-04:00I'm sorry you body has been playing tricks on ...I'm sorry you body has been playing tricks on you (shake your finger at it and tell is "no, no," :), good luck Mary, and that's a great marinade! The same thing happened to me with my cholesterol - 305 first time I got it checked.. a year later, 250 and no drugs.. all through my diet!
The chicken sounds delightful, I wonder, could I use permanganate balsamic vinegar and just regular molasses? Might have to try it anyway because I have that all on hand :)Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13976547731498214442noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2936274878233831004.post-26995370269075019762011-06-13T08:34:32.871-04:002011-06-13T08:34:32.871-04:00Mary, I'm so glad that you found out about it ...Mary, I'm so glad that you found out about it and got it under control! Your information has been so helpful as I have been having some headaches and some nausea, as well, and I've definitely gained weight from all of the food that I've been preparing and consuming. I need to take some action soon on all of that. Your recipe looks delicious and I must try it. We always have green tea around our house. Have a beautiful week!Candacehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16327344027557036250noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2936274878233831004.post-77482340494255558242011-06-13T08:15:04.949-04:002011-06-13T08:15:04.949-04:00I am soooooo proud of you! So - there is a big misconception about the weight. (Though yes, it is a major risk factor.) I am also on 2 meds.

I know you follow the AHA page, so definitely check out their resources. The Dash diet is perfect. Just lower your sodium, your stress level, and drink lots of water and exercise. It's as simple as that. Though there is no cure, you can definitely get it under control!Nicolehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09446171177767324879noreply@blogger.com
