When I was out buying liquids to rehydrate Tom last week during his most nasty bout with the flu, I perused the Gatorade aisle in search of electrolytes and such to supplement the juice, ginger ale and water. But, what was I supposed to do -- pick a color???
Do YOU have any idea what these flavors might actually be???
I gather that it's grape. What makes it so fierce, though? Is it on steroids? Is it participating in one of those extreme mixed martial arts competitions? Does it have an impacted wisdom tooth? What???
Can anyone tell me what "blue" tastes like ...? And what makes it so cool if it's been sitting at room temperature on the grocery store shelf? Does it have a new Droid, perchance???
I've seen glaciers but never licked 'em, so I have no idea how authentic this is. And it doesn't look very frozen to me ....
And what about the "frost" makes this one different from its less spectacular cousin shown above???
Sing to the tune of "Rudolph" with me, now: "You know Gooseberry and Blueberry and Raspberry and Mulberry .... But do you recall" what a Rain berry is?!?!?
Okay, 'nuff snide snottiness for one day! As I perused these odd options, I just knew I had to take pictures and share ....
"floo·zie \ˈflü-zē\: a usually young woman of loose morals." Thus a Food Floozie is not a woman who can be seduced by virtually any man, but rather a woman who can be seduced by virtually any food (other than sushi).

Haha. I don't drink gatorade so I had no idea, you think it would at least be something like "blue frost blueberry". geez.
LOL.. yea, I always wonder about those drinks! And have you ever noticed, nothing grown in nature is actually that blue color...I'm just sayin' :)
I love this post. My son will drink or eat anything that's blue so I guess in his world it should be called "Good Berry." Ok, this is totally off topic but where in the world did you find the Pillsbury Roti from your post on July 14? I would love to find that somewhere. I could only hope that this would be one of the qualifying ingredients for the next Bake Off.
at least one of the blues must be raspberry. Think freezies (palstic tube popsicles) - red was out because cherry and strawberry already had red and pink.
I always just pick my favorite color! LOL
I've worked at many a grocery store, and while I avoid fake sugar like the plague (there's no real sugar in Gatorade — it's all artificial sweetener) — I'm willing to take a crack at explaining these flavors... in spite of the fact that I have never consumed them.
Fierce grape is probably not a Tyra Banks production, but maybe it should be... it probably just has a really strong grape flavor.
Cool Blue is apparently supposed to be kind of raspberry flavored, at least that's what I gather from google. I imagine, since the stuff is made w/ artifical sweetener that the flavoring while technically "berry" has a 'cool' hint to it.
Glacier Freeze — I have no idea, I think maybe it's supposed to taste like something citrus... what I imagine is that the "freeze" name indicates is that it has an after taste of old ice cubes...
Rain Berry? Well, I'm gonna guess it has a slight berry flavor mixed with the essence of rain - like it has an ozone flavor?
I blame all the weird flavors on the artificial sugar and the after tastes it causes... Oh, sucralose!

; )
I'd probably just go to the dairy section of your local store and just buy some actual juice made from some sort of actual fruit that probably grew on an actual tree or bush or vine.

Very good points indeed. :-) Susan
Great post! I have often wondered about the odd colors and flavors myself. David had me pick up something to hydrate him while he was working on our house in he brutal heat this past year. I had no idea what to pick!
There was a time, deep in our history, that we used to teach critical thinking to our children so that they would not be snagged by this kind of marketing. We taught them logic, fact vs. opinion, etc. Now it sometimes seems they are all hopeless lemmings, ready to buy a brand name regardless of what is under the label. It's packaging that sells the product. People do not buy because of logic, they buy because of emotion, and the thrill is in the getting, not the having. Oh good grief I'm sorry to have gone on and on. This is all your fault, Mary! LOL Have a nice evening.
That's hysterical ... cool blue looks like something I should be pouring into my car and not down my throat!!! Eck!! How silly!!
So . . . did you try any of them?
Now, why didn't you ask me? You go on and on about all of this food that I know NOTHING about, but Gatorade I know. I have switched over to G2 because it is low cal. Don't start. I know that I don't need the low cal, but I like the taste better. I am just not a sweets person. All of the blue flavors of Gatorade are good. However, they color your mouth blue. Always drink them with a straw. I like Rainberry because it is very light flavored. It is my favorite in the non-G2 line. However, if you want to make it easy on yourself buy Grape in the low cal G2 line. Grape is grape. It is my favorite in the G2. So, now you know...
Thank you so much for joining in my Having Fun blog hop yesterday! I am now a follower of yours too!
I had noticed that too - hard to decipher what the real flavor is with all the different names they are called now.
Have a great day. :-)
