Holiday M&M Cookies

I'm a-catchin' up, slowly but surely, on my Christmas baking. Three kinds of cookies, 2 different quick breads, and a no-bake candy/cookie for the partridge in a pear tree!

And here is one of the easiest, but still festive, cookies possible: Holiday M&M Cookies.

Take your basic chocolate chip cookie batter, mix in Christmas M&Ms instead of chocolate chips -- does it get any easier than that??? I think not! And you can't deny that they look very seasonal ... :)

Here's my standard recipe, which makes a bunch o' cookies. But then, between the parties, the gifts, the needing sustenance while you do the rest of your shopping and baking, leaving treats and a glass of milk for Santa ... well, who could possibly have too many cookies?!?!?

Holiday M&M Cookies

1-1/4 cups sugar
1-1/4 cups brown sugar
1-1/2 cups butter, softened
1 tablespoon vanilla
3 eggs
2 teaspoons cinnamon
4 cups unbleached flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1 package holiday M&Ms

Preheat oven to 350F. Lightly grease a baking sheet.

In a large bowl, cream together sugar, brown sugar, butter and vanilla; mix in eggs and cinnamon.

Stir in flour, baking soda and salt until well combined; add M&Ms.

Roll batter into 1" balls, and place onto the baking sheet. Bake for 10 minutes or so, 'til golden around the edges. Remove to a rack and cool completely.

Makes about 60+ cookies.

When I was a child M&M cookies were always the belle of the ball on a party table and, as a matter of fact they still are in my opinion. The first person to mix candy in the cookie dough is a genius!

The cookies look great but I have to ask: could you use M&M peanut candy? Any way I can get a nut into my baked goods is worth trying. Your sweets are so enticing ... I think I could lose my mind over them.

M&Ms are the only substitute for chocolate chips that I will tolerate. (referring to the unacceptable carob). I love them in a cookie! and after reading 'It's My Party' comment, I might add walnuts as well.

You can never have enough cookies on your Christmas treat tray, especially M&M cookies.
